Now if you have clicked on this page, we know you love tea as much as we do. In some cultures, they train for years to have a superb tea experience. We decided to start by just giving you a few tips & inspirations… Here’s to your good health!
BREWING HERBAL TEA:
If you are going for a superior brew, there is only one choice – loose-leaf tea, which is how we choose to package our teas. The loose-leaf method ensures each little leaf is swimming freely so it can release its full flavor & healing property.
And remember to give your herbs a shake in the packet before putting them in the pot – sometimes the best bits are on the bottom!
LOOSE LEAF TEA BREWING:
For 1 superb cup, combine 1-2 teaspoons of dried herb to 1 cup of water using a tea ball (if you need one, try our shop!).
If you have a crew of people and a teapot is more your style, try 1-2 teaspoons per cup that the pot holds.
Now patience is a virtue so allow the tea to work its magic steeping for 5-10 minutes before straining or removing the tea ball.
Herbal Powders:
- We Recommend with our Herb Powders:
- 1 teaspoons of dried herb powder, 1-3 times daily
- Add to your breakfast smoothie
- Sprinkle on your cereal
- Add to your morning juice
- Sprinkle on your evening meal
General Tea Drinking Guidelines:
Simple but true, don’t forget the basics & your little cup of happiness will thank you.
- Use 1-2 teaspoon of dried herb per serve
- Warm your cup or teapot first, this lengthens your brewing time to ensure all the healing properties of the herbs are properly infused.
- Try not to over-boil your water. Too much enthusiasm doesn’t always work…
- Larger leaf teas can be brewed for longer than the small cut leaf.
Green Tea
Brew these teas in water that is just below boiling point. That is as steam starts to rise before bubbles appear – you might have to be a kettle watcher for this.
- Green Tea is best brewed for 2 to 4 minutes
- As your pot or cup empties, you can replenish with hot water for another serving
- Water Temperature 65°C to 77°C
White Tea
Brew these teas in water that is just below boiling point. That is as steam starts to rise before bubbles appear.
- White Tea is best brewed for 5 – 7 minutes.
- As your pot or cup empties, you can replenish with hot water serving immediately.
- Water Temperature 77°C
Red Tea
Can be brewed as long as you like, without spoiling the taste
- we recommend 3-4 minutes for the ultimate red
- Water temperature 88°C to 99°C
In South Africa Rooibos is served with milk and sugar, but abroad it is generally served without. What is your choice – straight up or milk on top?
Iced Herbal Infusion
When summer is upon us, no matter how much we love our tea, sometimes we just need a cool change. Here’s some fun inspirations to try:
- Use 2 tablespoons of dried herb per cup.
- Allow the tea too steep for 10 mins so the brew is strong
- Add honey whilst warm
- Once brewed, strain off the herbs
- Fill a jug with ice and pour the hot brewed tea over the ice and top with cold water if needed
- Allow it to cool in the fridge and serve with ice and your favourite fresh herb and or fruit garnish.
